Bharatanatyam for Beginners
Bharatanatyam is one of the most loved classical Indian dance forms originating from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Its history traces back nearly 2000 years.
The term Bharatanatyam is derived from 3 words: Bhava- which stands for expressions, Raga- meaning music, and Tala - meaning rhythm.
Bharatanatyam has gone through an interesting journey from being performed at temples as a religious ritual, to being a piece of art showcased
at theatres. What remains constant is its component of expressive storytelling through intricate footwork, hand gestures and facial expressions.
